RAF Akrotiri was officially handed the keys to a new Station minibus this week after Air Marshal, Sir Kevin Leeson, visited the island in his capacity as Chairman of the RAF Charitable Trust (RAFCT).

The Station, which is remotely located outside of Limassol for those with no means of transport, has been in desperate need of a minibus for some time and despite the best efforts of numerous welfare organisations within RAF Akrotiri, there was simply not enough funding available.

Fortunately, a bid, led by Wing Commander Sarah Davis, OC Base Support Wing, was successfully made to the RAFCT, which donated £12,400 towards its purchase.

The minibus has already been used by a cross-section of personnel from RAF Akrotiri who are now able to enjoy the wealth of cultural and leisure activities on the island.
