Many vehicles were abandoned in the Western Sovereign Base Area of Akrotiri in 1974, where they were brought together in an outside compound at the British military base in Episkopi. Due to the passage of time, fire damage, and weather conditions, these vehicles are in very poor condition and are not serviceable. The Sovereign Base Areas Administration (SBAA) will complete a gradual process to remove these vehicles in September 2016. The details of individual vehicles are on this web site and owners or close family members are invited to register their interest in collecting their vehicles.
The removal of any vehicle from the military base at Episkopi will be at the owners own expense and at an agreed date and time with the SBAA. If an owner indicates they do not want to collect the vehicle it will be disposed as scrap metal. Any payments received by the SBAA for recycling the metal will be put into a fund to be administered by a Committee and used for the benefit of Turkish Cypriot communities located near to the SBAs.
Unfortunately it is not possible to enter the military base to come and view a vehicle, a decision should be made using the provided photograph and information available. Any other available details can be provided if you request them.
All movement of all of these vehicles in Cyprus will be owners own risk and responsibility. The SBAA will accept no responsibility for any transportation arrangements of these vehicles. Once a vehicle has left the military base in Episkopi it cannot be brought back.
